Cultural Technology Applications

The Foundation of the Hellenic World (FHW) organized the seminar "Historical Memory Programmes for the European Youth - Cultural Technology Applications" (http://himemotech.ime.gr/) on Monday 27th of November 2006 at Building 7 of Hellenic Cosmos. The seminar is part of the programme YOUTH of the European Commission. It is supervised and funded by the General Secretariat for the Youth.

FHW members presented issues relevant to historical memory, 3D reconstruction of archaeological sites and the Foundation's educational programmes. Then, European museologists and museum educators announced examples of good practice of organizing informal education activities from their countries of origin (Cyprus, Italy, Netherlands) and presented their experience in plans for the preservation of historical memory through new technologies.

Multitude of students, young scientists, educators and technologists specialized in historical research came to Hellenic Cosmos and attended the seminar. After the conclusion of the speeches there was a tour at FHW¢S exhibitions "Tales of the Olympic Games. A unique exhibition" and "Is There An Answer To Everything? A journey to the world of Greek mathematics". The participants also watched shows at the Virtual Reality theatres "Kivotos" and "Virtual Cinema". At the end of the seminar those that participated received a certificate of attendance.

The objective of this activity is the creation of an exemplary technological model that will be used by the European youth and the establishment of a digital forum for the announcements of the innovations introduced by each country for the convergence of culture and technology.
